WOW, I'VE BEEN SWAMPED!
It's great - I've had a flurry of people signing up in the past few days, not to mention opening a gallery this weekend (www.driftstation.org). In other words, apologies if you haven't heard a reply after signing up - I will get to it very soon. Perhaps some PHP/MySQL guru wants to redesign the site to have automated uploads...?

HOW IT WORKS

This project, a conceptual artwork by artist Jeff Thompson, allows for 4,200 artists to have their work seen in Artforum magazine.

Each participant, paying $1.50 USD and sending their image electronically, will then have their piece, along with all the other participating artists, in an advertisement. Of course, due to the number of artists needed to raise the money for this venture, the images themselves will be quite small... about 3/16" x 3/16", or the size of the image below:

You make a secure payment of $1.50 using PayPal and send an image of your work. The image is shrunk to the 3/16". When $4,200 is raised, the ad is sent to Artforum to be published.

The final advertisement and all participating artists will be listed on a revised version of this site after publication.

The $1.50 you will be charged goes 100% to getting your image in Artforum.

The price of a full-page ad is $4,200. PayPal takes $0.30 on each transaction, plus a small percentage of the sale price and, depending on location, a currency conversion fee. Therefore, the total price of the image is $1.50.



FAQ

1. How do I sign up?

You can pay via PayPal using the link to the right. Simple as that!

2. I've already paid, what next?

You can send your image via email to artforum [at] jeffreythompson.org. For more information, visit this link.

3. If I buy more than one image, can I make a larger picture or a word?

Short answer: no. Longer answer: you are encouraged to sign up for lots of images. While they will NOT be next to each other, they will be placed in order, randomly spread through the page.

4. How can I speed up my image getting in the magazine?

The best way is to get lots of your friends to sign up! This project works by word of mouth, so please tell everyone. You could always buy $1,000 worth of images and give them out...

5. Why can't I see my image above?

The above preview will be updated as regularly as possible, probably about once per week.

6. Why can't I just upload an image in a form - that sure would be easy!

True, and wish I was enough of a web-design wizard to make that happen. Sorry! We'll have to go low-tech here. Or medium tech, maybe.

You can submit payment via PayPal below, then send your image via email. Please send images sized no larger than 5" x 7", 300 dpi. Be sure to include your PayPal confirmation number with your image.

Feel free to buy as many images as you like, though it cannot be guaranteed that they will be placed next to each other.

Upon receipt you will be added to the "Arforum Ad Project" email list and updated regularly on the status of the project as well as publishing date.
